In November we had the pleasure of participating in Palestinarte at I Morticelli in Salerno, a unique and hybrid space that, inside the former church of San Sebastiano del Monte dei Morti (1530 AD), experiments with new forms of cultural welfare.
On this special evening, music, words and images shaped the Mediterranean as a place of encounter, dialogue and possibility. With the music of Cypriot Selector and the images of the film The Tower (Grorud, 2018), we embarked on a symbolic journey from the Strait of Gibraltar to Palestine, telling stories of resistance.
The canvas, made with markers during the evening, depicts a Palestinian woman wrapped in a Keffiyeh, her glasses reflecting the flames and, in the background, the smoke of the bombings. It is an image of pain, but also of strength and memory, a tribute to the resistance of the Palestinian people.
The evening was also a concrete moment of solidarity: we supported the fundraising for G azzella Onlus , an association that offers care and assistance to wounded boys and girls in Gaza and throughout the Palestinian Territories. Their collaboration with organizations such as Palestinian Medical Relief Soc demonstrates that unity and healing are possible, even in the most difficult situations.
A deep thank you to M editerraneo Contemporaneo , Femminile Palestinese , and C asa del Contemporaneo for making all this possible, and to IM Orticelli for the welcome.
In a Mediterranean crossed by conflicts, migrations and injustices, events like these remind us that dialogue, memory and art can be tools to build a future of possibility and dignity.
We stand by Palestine, united by culture, solidarity and struggle.
