In 2022, we have once again answered the call of Cheap Festival , passionately embracing the proposed burning theme: fire. The call for the artists, with its fiery words, read: "Fire, Sacred, eternal alive. Or burning, rebirth, raid. Friendly, enemy, crossed fire. Last fire, will-o'-the-wisp, fireworks, straw fire. Yes burns with desire, with fever, with anger. Slowly or in a rapid blaze. IN FLAMES. Like the planet, like the struggles, like our desires."
We transformed those words into an iconoclastic work, representing a couple exchanging a fiery kiss in front of a burning church. This image is our cry of challenge to the ancient ecclesiastical power, the most long-lived and oppressive that has ever dominated our world with its anachronistic dogmas.
The burning church symbolizes our desire to destroy the chains of religious oppression, determinedly burning the kingdom of obscurantism. The kiss, lit like the flames that devoured the sacred structure, embodies the passion of those fighting for radical liberation.
Fire, in its rapid blaze or slow crackle, is a powerful image that reflects our time and our aspirations. Like the planet that heats up due to our indifference, like the fiery struggles for justice and like the desires for freedom that burn uncontrollably, we are on fire. And nothing will be able to extinguish our determination to overthrow that thousand-year-old power that has suffocated us for too long.
